I saw it as soon as I turned into the parking lot.
Its feathers blowing in the breeze, calling to me.
My heart skipped a beat…how could that beautiful wreath be outside? We all know “outside” is a wasteland of clearance items, often damaged or out of season. No, this must be a mistake.
“Kids! Hurry up! Unbuckle! We need to grab that wreath before someone realizes it’s been put on the clearance rack. Before my dreams of creating something fabulous with it are shattered. Run!”
We ran across the parking lot as fast as we could. I vaguely remember hearing shouts of “Mom! Why are we running so fast?” Clearly my children did not understand the seriousness of what stood before us.
Maybe 20%? I would have been happy with 20%. 20% off would have made my day.
30% would have made this thing a steal.
60%!
It was 60% off!
I had to restrain myself from not buying all of them!
I quickly threw one in the cart, my eyes darting left and right as if in fear. Covertly scurrying my children into the store, before an employee realized they must have been mismarked.
Once inside, I almost messed the whole thing up.
I picked up a few things….a few bows, a Halloween “ornament”…I knew it needed the perfect, simple, spooky touch to become a Boo-tiful wreath, welcoming trick-or-treaters at my front door.
And then, I spotted a headband…marked down 30%.
It was as if the craft store gods were challenging me to not buy it!
How much of a discount could I withstand?
At what point did I give in to the seduction of the clearance sale???
Looking back…they had me in the parking lot.
Enjoy,
Nikki, In Stitches
Materials:
- Wreath
- Headband
- Glue
Directions:
- Pull spider and netting off of headband. (Mine literally pulled off in one piece, with barely a tug!)
- Glue onto wreath.
Yup, it’s that easy. It could take you longer to hang it, than to make it!
Psst! This simple Halloween project is just one of many featured on Tatertots & Jello’s Weekly Wrap-Up! Take a peek at all of the other great projects she featured this week here!
I LOVE this. The wreath reminds me of the trees in The Lorax (which is a movie I absolutely LOVE). And I love the “less is more” mentality of this craft. I want to trick-or-treat at your door!!!! I have to say your blog that went with it made me chuckle a bit too…it sounded somewhat…familiar (if you know what I mean). 🙂
Oh! Thank you, Erin!
I love how simple it is, too. Not every craft has to be complicated, right?
PS…Happy I’m not the only one that can’t pass up a good sale!
XOXO
This is adorable! I love how simple it is, and the fact that it was on sale is awesome 🙂 What a perfect Halloween wreath.
Thanks, Terrie!
