Product Description

If you’ve been drooling over a gorgeous mixed media work of art, telling yourself you can never create something like that, this is YOUR class! Revlie Schuit will show you EVERYONE can create a mixed media canvas!

Rev will cover basic techniques, such as how to:

  • Create a background with paper
  • Use a gel medium
  • Add color with spray ink and paint
  • Create interest with stamps
  • Make it “YOU” with lovely fabric
  • Create a simple flower scene
  • Add a handwritten title

You will receive a PDF, filed with written instructions, as well as step-by-step pictures of the process to create a mixed media canvas, which you can turn to at home as often as you like. The Spreecast will also be available for replay after class. Come back again and again to watch Rev demonstrate for you exactly how to do the techniques she uses to create her beautiful mixed media canvasses!

A bit about the very talented, Rev:

Revlie Schuit has designed for a variety of different scrapbooking manufacturers, including Scenic Route, American Crafts, 24heures37, and Color Conspiracy. She has written for Dutch Scrapbooking Magazine in the past, and currently writes articles for Entre Artistes (a French scrapbooking magazine). She’s been published in Creating Keepsakes, Scrapbooks Etc, Simply Handmade and multiple other magazines. Rev teaches mini-album and mixed media workshops in her studio and she’s currently working on a 4 week e-course for creating mixed media canvasses…her way. (Which in my opinion, is the best way!)

Class Supplies:
Please do not let this list scare you! Most of these items can be found in your stash…I promise!

  • Blank canvas measureing 12″ x 12′
  • Background paper (paper from old books, scrapbook paper, even old envelopes…check your scrap bin!)
  • Mod Podge and paint brush
  • Acrylic paint, brush, and a small cup of water
  • Spray ink (If you don’t have this on hand, take a peek in the scrapbooking section of your craft store!)
  • Paper punches. (Rev used a star in the canvas we’ll be making, but feel free to use any shapes you have on hand!)
  • Stamps! (Acrylic stamps, roller stamps…anything you’ve got!)
  • Scraps of fabric, ribbon, and paper (Any color or print you’d like! You’d be amazed at the simple ways Rev will use these to create flowers or even to make stencils!)
  • Scissors
  • Any kind of scrapbooking embellishments you have on hand (You know…the ones you bought too much of for your last project!?! Anything will work!)
  • A few scraps of white felt (or any color that matches your canvas!)
  • Crayons, oil pastels, or markers (Anything that you can color with and add dimension to your piece!)
  • Heatgun (This one is totally optional. You might just want to have it in case your canvas is taking too long to dry and you’re ready to move on to the next step!)

As promised…most of these items you probably already have on hand!

IMPORTANT NOTE: All classes are taught on Spreecast. Creating a free Spreecast account will be required before your participation in class. This allows me to “take attendance” and make sure everyone’s ready to go before class starts! After purchasing your place in class, you will be emailed the details of how to get the best online experience, including how to ask questions, how to connect to Spreecast, and how to even come on camera with me! Spreecasts will be available for replay immediately after the live class has finished!
