Let’s Get Festive!

Nikki · July 6, 2009 · 2 Comments

Merry Christmas BOM - EAs you can see, I’m still hooked on hand applique. This is the second installment of my Merry Christmas Block of the Month Quilt.  (See the link for more information about where you can find it.)  I’m a little disappointed in this one, only because I think I slacked off a little bit, and probably could have done a little better around some of the tight curves.  The nice thing about this though, is after it has been quilted and the buttons and beads are added, most of the parts I don’t like about it, will be covered.  But I didn’t think it would be fun for all of you to just see what I’ve been working on in preparation for the holidays, and not give you a little something extra to inspire your own holiday spirit.  So, each month, I’ll not only show my progress on all of my projects, but also offer up a little something else to get you going.

These little ornaments are adorable, but they don’t really fit the style of my tree.  Something about them though.  I kept coming back to them, thinking “I could do something else with these.  Hmmmm……  I got it!”  These little guys are going to be sewn into little stockings, to be hung by the fire with the care, with the hopes of being filled by little elves each night and found full of candy and goodies each morning of The Twelve Days of Christmas.  I haven’t yet worked out the details.  I’m just starting the needlepoint process now.  But when the time comes for their accompanying stockings to be sewn and adorned with Christmas glitz and glamor, I’ll be sure to pass on my patterns and ideas.  For now, you can find these at Stitching Bits and Bobs.  Just be careful and don’t make the same mistake I did.  They come in groups of three.  In order to get all twelve days of Christmas you have to order the following four pattern sets:  On the First Day of Christmas, On the Fourth Day of Christmas, On the Seventh Day of Christmas, and My True Love Gave To Me.  Imagine my disappoint when I opened my first package and only saw days 10 through 12.

Enjoy,

I think you did great on the applique Nikki. From the picture it looks wonderful! And you are right, in that the beads and add on’s will make it look even more fabulous.

On My Work Table Today

Large Silhouette Stencils With Registration Marks I had some time to myself yesterday while the kids were outside sledding in the snow and felt inspired to do a little painting. Actually, the truth is, I started this months ago for my youngest and was feeling more than a little guilty that it still wasn't finished. I made one for my oldest over the summer and they're meant to be a set, … [Read More...] about Snow Day Painting
