Iron Man and Elmo are tucked into bed, completely exhausted from a night full of trick-or-treating, and Mommy and Daddy are headed to bed soon, too, also exhausted from a night full of trick-or-treating. But I’ve got that flutter in my tummy, those butterflies in my stomach…tomorrow starts my favorite month of the year…
November.
This month, on the 10th, I will celebrate four years of being a mom, when my little guy gets another year older. When he blows out the candles, I will wish that I could remember every word he says, every time he makes me laugh, and every minute he is the perfect big brother to his little sister.
This month my little girl will turn two on the 25th. My Annie, who is already every bit of the woman I ever dreamed she could be, wrapped up in that little body, and who gives the best hugs you could ever ask for.
Of course we’ll celebrate Thanksgiving (or as I like to call it: the day before I get to decorate for Christmas!). We’ll spend the day with family, and the kiddos will gobble up every minute of the attention they get from their grandparents. I’ll wake up early the next morning, grab a quick cup of coffee, and quickly get to the decorating…and probably realize at dinner time, when we’re breaking out the turkey and stuffing leftovers, that I’m still in my pajamas.
And I’ll finish out the month on the 30th celebrating ten years with the love of my life. Ten years ago that day I walked into a bar, completely clueless that my life would change forever that night. To whoever said you’ll never find the man of your dreams in a bar: you couldn’t have been more wrong.
Happy November!
I hope you enjoy this upcoming month as much as I know I will!
Nikki, In Stitches
I love this post SO much, makes me miss you even more!!! LOVE you!!!
Oh! Thank you, Kristen!
I’m happy you liked it. It’s not my typical style…I guess November brings out my “smooshie wooshie” side!
Miss you, too!!
XOXO
Nikki what a “sweet” post! My youngest just turned 4 yesterday and the night before I just held him and wanted to keep him in that moment and three years old forever. Enjoy this time of year. Starting with October on its my favorite too!
Thanks, Dorangela! I know exactly how you feel. My little man fell asleep in my arms the other night and I wanted to hold him there forever!
Such a sweet post!
You’re tugging at my heartstrings, girlie! Such a sweet post. Treasure every second, the time goes by so fast. On the 25th, while Annie’s blowing out her candles, we’ll be celebrating Zach Man’s 17th birthday. So hard to believe. I’d still hold him in my arms and rock him to sleep if he’d let me. 😉
Beautiful. Those three McGonigals are SO lucky to call YOU Mommy and wife. xo
that IS a great month for you! Love this post, sweet, from the heart and full of the love for your family!
Thanks, Everyone for all of your sweet words!
Cheers to a great November!

Carrie! It’s Merrymead…such a cute spot, right??
And yes…I don’t know which day I’m more excited about…Thanksgiving or the day after when I get to decorate!
Can’t wait to get those Christmas carols cranked up!!
Love this!!! Happy November! 🙂
Today on the 1st of November is the day my husband asked me to marry him 11 years ago on our 3rd anniversary! So the start of November is pretty special to me too. Thanks for sharing why November is special to you…enjoy your month of celebrations!
Congratulations, Trina!
I love hearing why November is so special to so many people!
November marks my birthday and anniversary. It’s such a wonderful time for celebration and the true mark of the change in the seasons. Happy November!
I love that you have all these celebrations in November! September is special like that for us…it’s great to have a month of celebrations!
So apparently November is sweet for a lot of you, too!
Thank you so very, very much for all of the comments and emails coming in about why all of you love November as much as I do.
Enjoy this very special month!!

Thank you, Terrie! And the same to you!!

I am sitting here drinking my coffee, tears rolling down my face. Why? I am touched by your words….it brings me back to when my son (the youngest) was Batman or Zoro and my daughter was either a princes or later a hippy! Now I look forward to seeing the gr-kids – 4, 6 and 11. Time flies! I too met my husband in a bar – New Years eve 1973 – by December 1974 we were married! Cherish the moments because they go so fast. Just the other day I gave my sweet baby a hug (6’5) for installing my new lights and convincing his father that my chosen color was nicer than his! Even though our Thanksgiving has passed (I live in Montreal, Canada), I am equally thankful that we had no major effects from Sandy and that although there was some 35 deaths caused by Sandy, when you think of all the millions of people it effected, it isn’t that bad. Watching the reports on CNN I really thought it was the “end’. Take care!
And now you’ve got me crying because I can’t imagine my little guy ever getting that big!
I’m happy that my words touched your heart.
And I agree. I was scared beyond words, and I know that we are very fortunate. My heart breaks for the people that weren’t as lucky.
Lovely post! Congrats on 10 years and two beautiful children! My oldest son will turn 20 on the 28th! November is a special month!
