Uncharted Craft Waters

Nikki · February 13, 2014 · 6 Comments

Do you still get that “butterfly in your tummy” feeling when you start a new craft adventure?

That “I can’t wait to jump into this project head first, but I’m not really sure if I’ll make it out of the water unscathed” feeling?

I do.

And I love it.

It lets me know I’m still pushing myself to learn more.

It lets me know I’m still finding new creative ways to express myself.

And it lets me know I’m still just as excited about crafting as the day I started.

How about you?

When was the last time you felt that little flutter of excitement/nervousness when you looked at a pile of supplies on your work table?

I felt it today.

I finally, after literally years of drooling over it, bought myself this quilt kit.

It was one of those “wow, this is expensive, but it will keep me busy for a looooong time, so that’s how I can totally justify splurging on it” kind of purchases. And yes, I searched the entire internet for hours to find what could be the last fabric kit on the planet to go with it because with three little ones, heading out for fabric as I work through it just isn’t in the cards.

So, right now I’m looking at it.

The pile of patterns, instructions and fabric…

With that flutter in my tummy…

And I love it.

Wish me luck!

Oh! It absolutely can! In fact, I’ve used it MANY TIMES to cut appliqué pieces! You’re going to love it!

Great, let us know how it goes. It is something I would also love to try and have been toying with the idea for some years…but I guess I need a sewing machine first. Do not know if I would do it like my mom and grandmother did–all stitched by hand.
    have fun!!!

Jan, I still haven’t started it!
      HaHa!
It’s actually next up on my work table.
I’m usually a hand appliquer…if that’s a word???…so I keep pushing it back on the “to make” list, but I’m determined to get it done this summer!

On My Work Table Today

I’ve completely lost myself in my current design. I don’t mean like lost my sense of style, or lost my motivation, or even lost track of what direction I wanted to take this piece. I mean like I literally lost myself. I’ve been in my studio for hours on end, draping, drafting, and editing on repeat. I am a complete mess, in every sense of the word. My studio is covered in discarded … [Read More...] about Lost In Design…And Loving It
