End of the School Year Teacher Appreciation Gift {Scrappy Notecards Made Pretty by PicMonkey}

Nikki · May 31, 2012 · 8 Comments

Funny how the end of the school can kind of sneak up on you, right?

I quickly put together a set of fabric scrap notecards for each of my son’s teachers last night. (And when I say quickly, I mean quickly! Today was his last day of school!)

These should look familiar. They are one of my favorite go-to gifts…perfectly personalized for that special added touch. You can get the full how-to in my original post, here: Fabric Scrap Notecards.

But, what I love even more about that picture up there, is that the collage was made with PicMonkey!

I was right there with everyone, feeling very stranded, when Picnik packed up and left us without a replacement for its photo collage capabilities, but I have to admit…I think I like this new option even better. PicMonkey’s photo collage interface is almost exactly the same as Picnik…you have different layouts to choose from, you can adjust the dimensions, background color, spacing, corners, etc. I think what puts it over the previous option is the actual photo editing itself. Something about the textures, fonts, and overlays in PicMonkey just seem crisper, sharper, more my style. (If we could save previously uploaded pictures there, I think it might be the perfect photo editing tool! And something tells me that’s probably not that far off!)

Here’s a quick pic of my collage in progress so you can see how easy it is to use.

Enjoy,

Nikki, In Stitches

PS…Do you have a favorite effect, texture, or technique in PicMonkey? Don’t be afraid to share! I love playing with my favorite pictures and can’t wait to hear what works for you!

On My Work Table Today

I’ve completely lost myself in my current design. I don’t mean like lost my sense of style, or lost my motivation, or even lost track of what direction I wanted to take this piece. I mean like I literally lost myself. I’ve been in my studio for hours on end, draping, drafting, and editing on repeat. I am a complete mess, in every sense of the word. My studio is covered in discarded … [Read More...] about Lost In Design…And Loving It
