“Thank you.” Cards {A Silhouette CAMEO how-to}

Nikki · June 4, 2012 · 13 Comments

Do you remember all of the fun we had with my “Crafty Wishlist” post?

I think one thing we all loved the most on that list was the Silhouette CAMEO. All of us had fun dreaming of all of the fabulous things we would make with it.

Well…I couldn’t wait any longer! I gave in!

Yup! I bought myself a CAMEO! (As my husband says, some girls buy shoes, some are addicted to purses and handbags…I buy craft supplies!)

I’m so excited to post my first big project in the next few weeks, but as I was working on it, I realized I had to do a few basic posts first. I’ve enjoyed learning a few tips and tricks on my own along the way, but thought I’d save all of you the time and share them with you now!

I used the CAMEO to put the sentiment on the Thank you. card that you see above. In the video below, I give a quick how-to for the foundation of the card, and a tutorial on transferring the adhesive letters onto the card with Silhouette’s transfer paper. It’s a great technique for moving the entire sentiment over at one time, rather than letter by letter.

So take a peek! Enjoy! And stay tuned…I’ve got another great CAMEO project coming your way soon!

Nikki, In Stitches

PS…The garden project is now posted! Take a peek here at my homemade garden markers, made adorably cute by the Silhouette CAMEO! And, get the bonus tutorial on how to use the CAMEO’s trace feature!

    Great video, Nikki – and great tips. I’ve wondered about that and haven’t tried it with my Cameo yet. Thanks!

      Thanks, Jennifer! It’s so easy. I’ve only done words (sentiments) so far…I’m excited to play around with designing stencils!

    The card you made while simple is absolutely perfect. I’ve just started making cards and am teaching myself about stamping and distressing. Love, the card! Great tips about an 8×11! Thank you for sharing!

On My Work Table Today

I’ve completely lost myself in my current design. I don’t mean like lost my sense of style, or lost my motivation, or even lost track of what direction I wanted to take this piece. I mean like I literally lost myself. I’ve been in my studio for hours on end, draping, drafting, and editing on repeat. I am a complete mess, in every sense of the word. My studio is covered in discarded … [Read More...] about Lost In Design…And Loving It
