It’s Time For New “Back To School” Clothes!

Nikki · September 1, 2010 · Leave a Comment

Remember those days?

They were my favorite.

I would get a whole closet full of back to school clothes, and have my outfits picked for the first two weeks of school…all lined up on hangers.

Well, until I went to a Catholic high school…but I remember doing that in grade school.

Anyway, the point is, I know a lot of you are getting your new “back to school” clothes, or at least a few new fall/winter pieces to add to your wardrobe, and need to make room for those additions in your closets…so send me your old sweaters!

Yes! It’s that time of year again! Time for my annual sweater drive!

Last year we were able to warm the hands of almost 100 people here in Connecticut, and we are going to double that this year!

Please, throw your old sweaters (any size, any shape, any condition…we can make anything work!) into a bag, and send them to Nikki, In Stitches!  (For my friends on the east coast, I have some travel plans scheduled in the next few weeks, and I’m sure we can arrange a pick up.)

And, considering how large our little sweater/mitten drive has gotten, we are having a Mitten Making Party here in CT!

If you’re in the area October 30th, Lisa’s Clover Hill Quilts is hosting an all day sweater sewing, mitten making fun-filled afternoon…with maybe a few Halloween treats thrown into the mix!

So, if you have sweaters, please try to get them to me before then.  I do need time to wash and dry all of them before they can be chopped up into mitten material.

I’m so excited for the potential our little mitten drive has this year.  If you have questions about donating sweaters, giving your time, helping with supplies, etc. just email me at NikkiInStitches@gmail.com.

Thank you all so much.

I’ll keep you posted on our sweater/mitten count on the sidebar to the right so all of you can see exactly how many people you are helping this winter!

On My Work Table Today

I’ve completely lost myself in my current design. I don’t mean like lost my sense of style, or lost my motivation, or even lost track of what direction I wanted to take this piece. I mean like I literally lost myself. I’ve been in my studio for hours on end, draping, drafting, and editing on repeat. I am a complete mess, in every sense of the word. My studio is covered in discarded … [Read More...] about Lost In Design…And Loving It
