Martha Stewart’s Dreamers Into Doers in New York City

Nikki · January 26, 2011 · 3 Comments

I’ve rewritten this post at least three times because I just don’t know where to begin. Yes, Martha Stewart was amazing and all of her staff continue to outdo themselves. I think I used this phrase the first time I was lucky enough to go to a Martha event…it was by far the coolest experience in this little blogger’s life! But even beyond that, I met some of the craftiest, most creative, most amazing ladies that I can’t wait for all of you to meet. Scroll down through the pictures below, read the captions, and please pop over to these other very talented ladies’ blogs. Get to know them because I’ve got some great ideas in the works, and you’ll be seeing them soon!

Enjoy,

Nikki, In Stitches

After a welcome breakfast, we were lucky enough to listen to Terri Trespicio, Senior Editor of Whole Living Magazine.  Not only is she hysterically funny, but she is so down to earth.  She talked to us about healthy living, and I was amazed at how in-tune she was with what were realistic expectations for a healthy lifestyle.

Then lunch, with of course, in typical “Martha” style, simple, yet fabulous centerpieces.

Followed by a presentation by Terri Shapiro, Executive Director of Brand and Media Relations at Deluxe Corporation.  The insight she gave us into public relations was priceless, and she added a ton of things to my to-do list!

Later in the day, we FINALLY got to hear from Martha!

I just want to note here, that I thought this was hysterically funny…Does Martha Stewart REALLY need a name tag??

Day 2: A taping of the Martha Stewart Show!

Martha was nice enough to stick around after the show to answer our questions!

Then we headed back to MSLO headquarters for a few more workshops!

Now, for the really fun part!

Take a look at these beautiful and talented ladies I met!

Aimee (an adorably cute, super creative, and full of energy like you wouldn’t believe event planner) and Jen (a birthday party guru and the sweetest person you’ll ever meet) in awe at the aisles of sprinkles at New York Cakes and Baking Supply.  Did you ever meet someone and think “It feels like we’ve been friends forever!”….yup, that’s Jenn!

All of us enjoying our last night in NYC!

And now, because you’ve scrolled ALL the way to the bottom, and read this whole post that is way, way too long…a moment of zen.  Look at this wall of ribbon at M&J Trimming…HEAVEN!

And that was just one wall!!

Great photos and re-cap Nikki! It was an amazing event given the incredibly talented people, the location and of course, the welcoming staff at Martha Stewart’s HQ. I sent your kind words to Terri Shapiro as well. Hoping your business continues to flourish in 2011!

On My Work Table Today

I’ve completely lost myself in my current design. I don’t mean like lost my sense of style, or lost my motivation, or even lost track of what direction I wanted to take this piece. I mean like I literally lost myself. I’ve been in my studio for hours on end, draping, drafting, and editing on repeat. I am a complete mess, in every sense of the word. My studio is covered in discarded … [Read More...] about Lost In Design…And Loving It
