Moving (hopefully one last time) was always a possibility for us, but it had to be the perfect scenario: a little more house, in the same school district, in a neighborhood just as friendly as the one we would be leaving.
- A little more house because let’s be honest, going in and out of lockdown the last 18 months has everyone wanting a little more space, right?
- In the same school district because my kids love it here, but honestly…I love my town even more than they do. I can’t imagine calling any other place home.
- And in a neighborhood just like our old one because there my door was always open…literally. Friends came in and out, no knocking required, and coffee (or wine, depending on the time of day!) was always ready. Yup, there were days when I got completely sidetracked, sitting at my kitchen island telling stories, laughing, and getting nothing done, but I wouldn’t ever swap that for the fun we had.
The bar was high.
We had a couple close calls, but nothing really checked all three boxes, and (just like it always goes) we pretty much decided we were staying where we were, when the perfect storm hit.
And so we moved!
We have a little more house, we are in the same town, and we have already been greeted by so many of our new neighbors that I know we’re in the right spot. We weren’t here five minutes before there were kids at our front door, offering still warm cookies to welcome us home. That was six days ago, and my youngest hasn’t been seen since. (I’m kidding…he comes home pretty much just to eat and sleep, then heads right back out to play!)
As you may have guessed, I have big ideas for this place, and lots of projects to tackle. I’m hoping to document as much of it as I can, either on YouTube or Instagram, and of course, in blog posts here.
While I settle in (and by that I mean unpack) enough to actually start something, I’ve been pinning like crazy on Pinterest. It’s hard to DIY in rooms stacked high with boxes and piles of packing paper.
Step 1 will be a fresh coat of paint…samples going on the wall tomorrow!

PS…The mat in the pic above is a gift from a new neighbor, purchased at my favorite store Three Sisters Co. This is not an affiliate link…just a shout out to the best place in town to shop for your home.
All the best & so much love & happiness in your new home ♥️💙
Thank you so much, Mrs. Hafer! I hope all is well with you and your crew! XOXO
